Besides our usual, I'd look at EXDS, SAPE, and WCOM, because they are market leaders in forward markets, and I'd hate to lose $25,000 all at once.

Sarkie, you might consider CS for a buyout play.

Cabletron Systems Raised to 'Buy' at A.G. Edwards Princeton, New Jersey, Nov. 2 (Bloomberg Data) -- Cabletron Systems (CS) was raised to ''buy'' from ''maintain position'' by analyst Peter Andrew at A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. The price target is $34.00 per share.

RE: "If you had $25K today to invest, where would you put it and why?"

Just don't know what to do with all that cash, hmmm...

Well Sark, I am also sitting on some powder and plan to keep sitting on it.

My humble game plan is to try and grab a few shares of UPS and CHTR the same as you, but as for the rest I am going to sit back and gamble that we have a significant enough correction in the next month or two to buy into some of our favorite stocks.
These may be current holdings or new plays.
I'm not sure what you have now or have sold but the ones I will buy more of or would like in on are:
ADIC, AMCC, BMCS, CNXT, HSAC, ICGE, JDSU, MCOM, NXTL, PMCS, QCOM, QLGC, RCNC, RNWK, SUNW, TQNT and TXN.

There are many others I have radar settings on, but if I had to start somewhere this would be it. At least this week.<BG>
It can sure be awfully hard to narrow it down to just a few! (so I don't!-BG)

I still have to go an check out Joe's extensive list of intriguing picks.

Try to be patient and see how the Market goes.
Are you looking for swing trades, long term, or like me, playing both?

Good luck Sarkie and hope what ever you choose are 909's x 9,

Puna

Sarkie, You didn't say how long of a time period but her are two options to invest the 25K in.
Higher risk / killer reward: Buy 15K of CTCH, HSAC and MCOM and 10K of ICGE.
Lower risk / good reward: Buy 15K of MSFT, INTC and DELL and 10K of ICGE.
