unclewest:
Manchester Equipment on Long Island, a large Compaq reseller, has RDRAM enabled AP550 and AP750 workstations in house for evaluation. He expects them to be available for sale within 30 days. Finally looking good.

Unclewest,

I rather doubt if the Gateway system is an 840 due to the memory options being offered. 840 requires matching pairs of RIMMs on each channel. Since they are offering 64Mb as the minimum configuration, this would have to be 2x32Mb RIMMs. I don't think anybody is making them less than 64Mb as production items? Also an 840 slot would have space for 4x128Mb RIMMs, which would give a total of 512Mb, whereas the spec indicates "expandable to 256Mb"

It seems much more likely that this is a 2 RIMM slot 820 board, in fact most likely it has the Intel Vancouver motherboard in it.
