Paul Russo, Genesis CEO, spoke at an investor's forum in San Diego today. As I've been following this thread for a couple of months, I thought you folks might be interested in a few things he had to say. Keep in mind, I am not a technical person and Russo was very technical. Re. earthquake impact: "It will be over this month." Re. flat panel displays: "We are entering a rapid growth phase. We are going to ship 4million in 1999, are projected to ship 6 million, and I think it will be over 6 million, in 2000. 2005 projections are for 32 million...The demand is explosive." Panasonic is using GNSS chip in its high end DVD and "this is just the start for us." He discussed a new chip that provides dual interface--is compatible with CRT monitors and digital. He believes DVI will become the digital standard because Intel is driving DVI. Russo showed us a sample of the WARP technology--a new chip which will be used in VR games and correcting optic lenses, among other things. "The first chips will be out in four or five months," he said. Two other new chips: gmZRX1 (result of paradise merger) will be in production in February. It is a "superior digital interface chip...tremendous customer reaction...full solution to digital flat panel monitor. Another chip, gmZ4 "will be the platform for next generation integration." Russo says the following will be "picking up steam by June"---digital CRT, LCD, dual CRT chip. In all, he expects 50% annual growth in the year ahead. Interesting guy. Not a suit. Really appears enthused about what's on the horizon. Unclewest, are you there? I've followed your comments on Rambus and G&K threads. Where do you place GNSS in the Gorilla scheme of things? Thanks, Joanne
