Paul, jump over to the Compaq thread for this article about Compaq's 3 millionth server shipped, and happens to be an 8-way Pentium III Xeon Proliant. Nice description of how the Proliant might be used at the at the customer site also.

Yes, PAMBUST does not fab the memory chips,
neither do Intel. That is correct.

However, the whole product of RAMBUS __is__
those design guidelines and core algorithms.

And they do not guarantee them to work!
