Here's another Athlon 700 Review. I know Paul reads all the game sites <g>, so he's probably already seen this, but just to share with everyone else.

The author used the new Asus MB. Here's a quote:

As you can see, the benchmarks really say it all. The Athlon 700 is the fastest gaming processor you can buy right now, hands down. The Athlon 700 really shined in Quake3 tests, and 3DMark's CPUMark score, which was over 2000 points higher than the Pentium III 600. Interestingly, Quake 2 Crusher tests didn't seem to benefit from the extra processor speed that the Athlon 700 offers. It seems to be the case that this test is fill-rate limited, perhaps swapping out the Voodoo3 with a next generation card (GeForce/Savage2000) would improve scores here.

Even with Intel's Coppermine processors nipping at their toes for the fastest processor crown, for the time being, the Athlon 700 reigns supreme. It seems the Athlon 700 may be the last Athlon processor will announce for this year, so Intel may gain back some of the market if they continue to get faster processors on to the market, and finally catch up with the current delays they're having getting the Coppermine processors out on store shelves. Athlon and GeForce/Savage 2000 will be a wicked combination, when neither the video card nor the processor will be the bottleneck. It's a good time to be a gamer.
