One more thought on this fine day for GOTO shareholders:

Why would a web site owner want to pay for being on a search engine?

As a website owner, I know that I need to be on YHOO and Alta Vista too. But, they are only free to me if I place no value on my time. GOTO is a better value to me than free on the others because:

1) I don't need to buy software, consultants, or books to figure out to get good listings
2) I can target my keywords really well
3) I get reports from GOTO any time I want telling me how well each key word is doing. This helps my strategy for the other search engines.
4) I only pay GOTO for clickthrus - The biggest waste of my money on the Internet has been paying for banner advertising. And, banner advertising is a form of screen pollution.

Howard, your thoughts on GOTO as a web site owner are much appreciated. Like many net stocks GOTO appears over valued to me. It's run today was a bit of a surprise, but I don't see it going over 100 so I'll just hold it short for now.
