I agree 100% my dear. The ignore feature was a VERY silly move on SI's part, in my opinion.

I think this is a case of keeping up with the Jones. You don't really need it, you just perceive you need it because the other has it.

Smooch!

Janice,

What's going on? I have David on ignore, did he say something important or announce an important new SI feature?

Tom

As you know, Janice, I too was/am opposed to an ignore feature.

There's an inherent conflict of interest between providing a good investment chat site and generating visit stats that will sell internet advertisement.

I bet SI rues the day they came up with the incredibly excellent PM system. Probably half of the messaging goes on privately now and is not additive to that reply# URL on the top of every post.

SI, at least polices multiple aliases and terminates a member if they get caught. And they don't allow some cretin to post the same message 1000 times with removing both the member and the posts.

It's trivial to sign up for more than one account at RB and they damn well know you are doing it. It increases the message count though. Same with spamming.

As far as SI caving in to the RB ignore button, I heard about it but I haven't seen it since I only use the classic site. At least SI will probably get it to work properly. At RB it results in a "broken" next button and you have to back out to the thread message list to proceed.

I have seen that there are a lot of new features at the new SI site but nothing to get me to abandon classic. I do remember the promise to migrate the features over and hope that it is still being worked on. Not for the ignore button, but "next 10" would sure be nice.
