The net-locate installation charges will be kept as low as possible -- in the low hundreds, is what I've been told -- to get market share. (Conceivably, I suppose, eventually it could be practically given away.) Most of the money will be made on monthly charges.

Net-locate is a significant improvement of an already existing system -- its main and crucial difference being a web-based interface (AVL's earlier products were hard-wired). The product (a) locates whatever you have the device attached to, let's say a vehicle; (b) acts as an events-based indicator, telling you, for instance, car's speed, rate of gas consumption, and any number of other things a company needs to measure (the device is easily customized).

<<Is the system simply a Locator? Does it include additional features such as "kill engine", "blow horn", etc.
Is the cost arround $1,800 US for each installation?>>

- it can handle many on/off contacts -I don't know how many will be in the final version. It can honk your horn or unlock your doors etc.
This is an area that they are ahead of most of their competitors.
- The cost -last I heard was in the 200-300 US range plus a monthly charge for the service end.

Their is other systems that do the same but they are much more expensive and do not use the internet interface.
