Lately though we get about 1 person a week that is really a pain and tries to spam the heck out of one stock that they hold. Yep, same deal here. One guy is jealous of somebody else and constantly posts things like - "Hey Fred, you still holding that priceline?", its a waste of time. My guess is this guy will stop because he knows he is about to be ignored by everybody on the thread. There are people out there that don't violate the TOU but still are a hindrance to the quality of SI, I'm glad they did the ignore thing...

Yes that is a good reason to have one but not all people will use it and if they start talking to the jerk then you have to take him off of ignore if you want to know what is going on. I had sixgunn on ignore for several months but it was more trouble having him that way than just clicking though his posts. If he made 2 consecutive posts it made navigation difficult to say the least. It might be handy to use on the people that don't mind spending the fee to join just to spam something and then get booted for it. After you read their message 3 or 4 times it makes you more determined not to take whatever they are spamming as a good idea. At raging bull they a bunch of new members every day that spam for hours and hours. You can put them on ignore but then your ignore list gets long. I don't think raging bull even boots these people, they are adding to their hit count.
