OF COURSE it runs on cable or DSL man... As long as you are on the net, its all good. If i were u, I'd get out of E*Trade ASAP! Maybe they are the cause of your time-to-time downfall.. I've never heard a good remark made about them...
Gow ith Mytrack, AB Watley or MB Trader.. They all use software based trading and tracking. Much better than web based.. And trades go through within seconds..not minutes.

Jim, the software runs fine regardless. Dial-up is just another net connection; once you're dialed in you look no different to the Web than someone on ADSL, cable, a T-1 or an OC-128 (you should be so lucky!)
