FYI: hawkeye's security system reports another possible attempted intrusion:
(hawkeye is using for first time tonight new highly-recommended security software.) here are general details provided by software manufacturer (Black Ice Defender) on the nature of the "attack": hawkeye would appreciate any assistance you can offer in interpreting this info:

Nature of "Attack" is called Duplicate IP Address

hawkeye is mot using cable modem. and is not on a network

"Every system must have its own IP address. A common attack is to take over the IP address of somebody else, impersonate them on the network, and take over their connections.

Even more important, it may be possible for an attacker to take over the role of the local router. This means that everyone on the local network sends their traffic through that machine. The attacker will then be able to "eavesdrop" on everyones activities, and possibly steal passwords, credit card information, and so forth.

False Positives

In the current version of BlackICE, it is seeing lots of duplicate addresses on cable-modem segments. The reason is that other people are simply misconfiguring their machines with the wrong IP address."
