VeriSign's Global Affiliate Program Expands to Brazil and Korea
Certisign and CrossCert Join VeriSign's Rapidly Growing Global Network Of Trusted Service Providers
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- VeriSign, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSN - news), the world's leading provider of Internet trust services, today announced the expansion of its global Affiliate program to include Certisign in Brazil and CrossCert in Korea. VeriSign Affiliates deliver digital certificate services under a common trusted infrastructure with each Affiliate offering a co-branded set of trust services for its specific geographic region and vertical markets. Certisign, the leading provider of digital certificates in Brazil, and CrossCert, the leading provider of trust services for e-commerce in Korea, will now deliver digital certificate services under VeriSign's trusted brand to customers in their respective regions.
Affiliates combine VeriSign's global Internet expertise with their own e-commerce services to serve customers in their local language, currency, and legal system. Key e-commerce applications that require Internet trust services include employee intranets, supply chain extranets, virtual private networks (VPNs), and large-scale e-commerce applications such as e-banking, e-brokerage, and e-healthcare.
As part of the VeriSign Affiliate Program, Certisign and CrossCert will distribute VeriSign's Internet trust services, including:
-- VeriSign OnSite(SM) -- a managed Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) service for enterprises, government agencies, and e-communities. -- VeriSign Go Secure! -- rapid deployment services that secure applications such as Microsoft Exchange, SAP and VPNs for e-commerce. -- Digital Certificate Services for Web sites and Individuals -- certificates to secure transactions and communications.
``Certisign and CrossCert are significant additions to the VeriSign Affiliate Program,' said Richard Yanowitch, executive vice president of marketing for VeriSign. ``Their e-commerce expertise in Brazil and Korea will assure local e-communities, enterprises, and industries that their electronic transactions and communications are secure on a global basis.'
In addition to the locally-operated Internet trust services, Certisign and CrossCert will leverage VeriSign's global trust infrastructure, including:
-- The VeriSign Trust Network (VTN) -- the world's largest network of globally-interoperable digital certificates. The VTN establishes a common set of technology, infrastructure, and practices -- key elements in establishing a common foundation of trust across international boundaries. -- Authorized Training Centers and Business Readiness Services -- workshops and knowledge transfer services that facilitate the rapid deployment of large-scale Internet trust services.
Certisign to Serve Brazilian Market
Certisign, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, is VeriSign's preferred provider of digital certificates in Brazil, servicing both Brazilian companies and government agencies. This, coupled with Certisign's experience in the PKI area, will allow us to provide our customers with rapid deployment of a global e-commerce infrastructure.'
CrossCert to Serve Korean Market
CrossCert, a spin-off of Syntech, was established to provide trusted services for Korea's growing electronic commerce marketplace. As a VeriSign Affiliate, CrossCert will be able to provide their customers with digital certificates that are interoperable with other Certificate Authorities (CA). By achieving cross-certification, customers will be able to conduct secure transactions with business partners throughout the world.
``Our customers needed digital certificates that would allow them to conduct trusted transactions with their international trading partners,' said Richard H. Shinn, president & CEO of CrossCert. ``By joining VeriSign's Affiliate program, we can now provide our customers with this global interoperability backed up by the trusted VeriSign brand.'
