"2000301 Scan. Attacker systematically scans through many ports on a system looking for those that are open." Upon further exploration, hawkeye is informed that the incidents I reported earlier this evening were in all probability "scans" to find possible weaknesses in hawkeye's computer system. hawkeye has also been informed that although he has not been totally aware of it until this evening when he installed Black Ice Defender* -- (highly recommended - - see latest issue of PC Computing), this type of scan most likely has occurred on a daily basis. Hard fact is that the internet is constantly prowled by malevolent scum (i.e., crooks) who, in the hope of monetary gain, cruise the net looking for opportunities to steal passwords, credit-card numbers, etc. (hawkeye notes that since his earlier post, three additional "scans" have been made, originating from three additional IP addresses.) I have also been told that because of their frequency and differing origination points, these incidents are not yet cause for any great concern. OK!! OKEY!-DOKEY! Everyone feel better now? (This message of reasssurance brought to you as a public service by Hackers R' Us!! Hackers R'Us!, where we constantly prowl the net searching for suck'ahs such as hawkeye!!) Y'ah! Well, the jokes on you guys, Hacker's R'Us! hawkeye's credit cards are all maxed-out and using his passwords will only get you into trouble with the SEC!! See! It Is True!!! Crime Does Not Pay!! *hawkeye is not connected with Black Ice Defender in any way shape or format and he has not received any compensation for his endorsement of Black Ice Defender in his post.
