The manufacturer states the requirements for the oil to be changed. Years ago the owners manual used to state severe climates and thus had different requirements for such things as oil and filter changes, however engineers nowadays have improved on the modern engine that requires less frequent changes of motor oil thus the longer time period between changes.

Mechanics are just reliving the old standards of 3000 mile oil changes.

Let's not get on the topic of cross rotating radials now. LOL (Another old wives tale)

edit... difference between 10-30 and 10-40? -------- 10 :)

Since you started this thread, would you like it to take another direction = EXPANSION?

I was thinking of expanding it to have experts in the field of automotive sales, insurance, claims, auto body repair, mechanical, etc, etc..

I think there are a lot of people with questions out there that we could help.

What do you and everyone else think?
