These "other companies" who are wrongly speculating that they can somehow bypass Q's IPR via WCDMA...you don't think that he could possibly be referring to our fine friend Bill Dogleash's pet hairball, IDC?

Rose, thanks for your note. You have such a way with words <g>. I've been searching and searching and am relieved to finally find such a clear statement on CDMA vs W-CDMA royalties. Puts the issue to rest for me, though as qdog noted on the other thread, I smell a lawsuit from sombody, somewhere down the road.

Q: "It's interesting because there has been some speculation by a number of other companies that they would get different royalty rates, a way to reduce or have no royalty rates in the event of the use of W-CDMA. I think it's quite clear that that may not be a correct assumption."

Yes, this was a great answer. There was some emphasis on the word "may" in the last sentence, sprinkled with a wee bit of sarcasm if I'm not mistaken. <g>

As an aside, I'm glad I don't do transcription for a living. It took about 3 hours to listen to the call, and extract these bits. Play, rewind, play, rewind... buffering, buffering, buffering. What I wouldn't do for a broadband connection to the internet! Maybe HDR some day.

PS. Was guessing we might get an opening high, so put an order in last night to sell the few Jan 02 160 calls in my retirement account for a price of 116 (they closed at 108-109 yesterday). Got an amazing 127-3/8! A 60% return in the dreaded month of October. Now, all I need is patience and a dip.
