The thread as it existed before the new ethic of argument was introduced, and not by me, has been only a memory for some time.

This statement itself is a matter of opinion. Some might argue that the "new ethic" is merely a more honest and direct form of the old ethic. Just a thought, E. JLA

I never posted excerpts (with the exception of an odd quote), but summaries of my reading. I never stopped posting them on other threads. I never "resumed" posting them on Feelies, because I had been either copying or linking all along. Three factual strikes...

I invited others to buy the book and give their own impressions, if they did not trust mine. I noted more than one criticism of Reagan in my summaries, and stuck mainly to the facts in outline, and to interpretations floated by the author. Obviously, I was doing some selecting, but was more faithful to the book than, say, Gore Vidal, with whom you began. As far as I am concerned, you already had done your "cherry picking"....

I have not yet gotten to a review of the material that you made so much of, except to comment on a couple of isolated matters--- that Reagan had seen raw footage of the extermination camps, had a security clearance, had a factual basis for the story of the black seaman at Pearl Harbor. I was holding in reserve the other matters until I had completed the skeletal narrative. Pressing concerns have distracted me from finishing....

I will consider whether I care to address the other questions later....
