Boy--- that's a tough one, TC. And I don't know what we would have done in the same place. I suppose you could have calculated the tax and sent a check. WHich would be the most ethical thing to do. And consequently really messed up their bookkeeping. The temptation to shrug and say, oh well, I tried, once one has made good faith efforts without results is very strong. I guess that's a personal judgment call, and people would have different opinions, so I neither pillory nor exonerate. I know (and this is hard to admit) that we might not do what we should. BUt that we are more likely to do the right thing when our children are watching. I could not have ignored it had Ammo's big blue eyes been looking at me to see what was right.
