Goutama,

<very interesting info relating to AMD tapeout of a chipset design with RAMBUS intf!>

RDRAM today is in a funny situation. It is a good technology for low granularity systems (lo-end PCs. games, etc) but at the same time it is currently too pricey for that segment. And, given CuMine's FP deficiency and the high prices, Intel is positioning it at the high end but I do not find that positioning sustainable. AMD's management so far seems to have made a wise decision on this. They waited out RDRAM and put their energies on SDRAM/DDRDRAM so far.

If RDRAM prices come down, a big if to be sure, it can be a killer consumer solution by next Christmas. (I expect the high-end solutions to go to DDR-DRAM in the same time frame). I see some pretty interesting developments in the next 6-12 months in the AMD/Intel/RDRAM arena.
