MM, well, the rate hedges of Fannie May and Freddie Mac ALONE mean that somebody is sitting on more that 20 billion dollars of losses...how big the losses from the gold carry trade are is anybody's guess. of course these things get no public attention...it's all taken care of behind closed doors, far away from prying eyes. why do you think the 100 trillion dollars in derivatives are all off-balance sheet? and why do you think they can be accounted for at either cost or market value, whichever is more convenient? it's a big rigged bubble game....
