Tenchusatsu,

<I think you might be mistaken about this, but I can't be sure. However, I'm almost certain that Nintendo won't be using DDR SDRAM, at least not the kind of DDR that is being pushed by the anti-Rambus coalition.>

You are right in the sense that it is not the standard DDR-DRAM but I think the Nintendo64 will use embedded version of DDR-DRAM.

<In any case, there's still Sony Playstation II which will have two RDRAM chips, each on its own channel. And this system will be debuting in Japan around March 2000 at a price just over $300.>

I used to be pretty enthusiastic about PSII until a few months back. Now, I wonder if Sony can pull it off. I expect legacy-free PCs (with K6-inside) to debut this Comdex (for 1999 Christmas season) and will migrate to Athlon-select and Celeron/CuMine first half of next year. Unless Sony executes well, they may lose further momentum.

Chuck

OT I forgot to tell you but Sony's mgmt was on CNBC yesterday, hawking Playstation II. I had something else going on so I couldn't listen much but it sounded like it would be released in the US in May. Seems like a stupid time to do it....the fall I think would be better but I may have misunderstood him.

BTW I just read the rest of the posts....I guess everyone is talking about PS II so it wasn't so off topic.
