I'm out that way quite often. Have relatives in Fulton, MD and Fredericksburg, VA. There is assuredly a whiff of decadence in the air.

BTW, I don't mean decadence to be confused with corruption or philistinism. I was referring to decadence of the sort described by Richard Ellman in his essay The Uses of Decadence: Wilde, Yeats, Joyce. It can be the dawn of something new and worthwhile.
