GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands, Dec 3 (Reuters) - The Cayman Islands Stock Exchange said Friday it had reached 200 listed issues, which stock exchange officials said confirmed its status as one of the world's fastest growing bourses.
The 200-listing mark for the 2-1/2-year old exchange was reached with a listing of a series of funds by Bank of Butterfield International (Cayman) Ltd., a press release from the exchange said.

"It has been a very promising year for the Exchange, and I am very pleased that we have continued to outperform our original projections," Anthony Travers, the exchange's chairman. The exchange opened in April 1997 with fewer than 20 mutual funds. It specializes in the listing of mutual funds and structured financing vehicles. It also lists selected secondary listings and local Cayman securities.

The release said the exchange has 209 listings with assets valued at more than US$20 billion.
