Ditech Communications sees robust Q2

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 3 (Reuters) - Ditech Communications Corp., a maker of telecommunications equipment, said
Wednesday its earnings for the second fiscal quarter ended Oct. 31 will come in at more than double expectations.

Ditech, based in Mountain View, Calif., said it expects net income for the quarter in the range of $7.9 million to $8.2 million, or
58-61 cents a share, on estimated revenues of $25.5-$26 million.

Wall Street analysts had expected the company to earn 26 cents a share in the latest quarter, according to earnings tracker First Call/Thomson Financial.

A spokesman for the company attributed the better-than-expected results to strong sales of new products, such as a device that improves voice quality over long
distance phone calls.

Ditech also said its preliminary results include a one-time benefit in optical license revenue of $1.9 million, or per-share earnings of 8 cents.

The company said it expects to release its full second quarter results after the close of market on Nov. 18.

<<NEW earnings plays for Nov 8-12>> now on the Newsletter Website.
Some little news items are there as well related to earnings.
Please note that those with a "^" mean they were hot today, but they might not be tomorrow. On the other hand they might be more better than the watch list plays so just look at them in the morning. If they are down, you will know it pretty quickly.

The ones marked "IPO" only mean these are not a recommendation that they will beat earnings, because they are IPO's and there is no way to know that just yet, but its good to know the dates the reports come out. Then we can watch for 'anticipatory upswing' on the day or two before they report. As is usual, probably if they are destined to do well some news or upgrades will come out right before earnings.
