Oh, that would be heaven.

I expect it would be a stock deal. The cash will be spent on capital equipment. Fast growing companies never have enough cash, even when it looks like they do.

This is starting to remind me of Iomega in the exponential growth days.

I think you've got great imagination Jeffrey!

An article in the Globe and mail today says that NT will invest $400 million US in its global optical network business. About $225 million US will be spent in Canada including building a new 125,000SF facility in Kanata, an Ottawa suburb, to build microchip lasers. (Sounds like just down the road from JDSU's Ottawa facility!!)

The article contains a quote from John Roth, NT's CEO saying "This investment isn't just about meeting customer demand but expanding an area of long-term competitive advantage."

The article finishes by stating that the new plant won't compete with Ottawa-based laser component maker JDSU, which is a major supplier to Nortel. This last statement is made by Mr. Roth but does not appear as a direct quote.

Hmmm. Seems like great news to me.
