Ditech Communications sees robust Q2

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 3 (Reuters) - Ditech Communications Corp., a
maker of telecommunications equipment, said
Wednesday its earnings for the second fiscal quarter ended Oct. 31 will come in at
more than double expectations.

Ditech, based in Mountain View, Calif., said it expects net income for the quarter in the
range of $7.9 million to $8.2 million, or
58-61 cents a share, on estimated revenues of $25.5-$26 million.

Wall Street analysts had expected the company to earn 26 cents a share in the latest
quarter, according to earnings tracker First Call/Thomson Financial.

A spokesman for the company attributed the better-than-expected results to strong
sales of new products, such as a device that improves voice quality over long
distance phone calls.

Ditech also said its preliminary results include a one-time benefit in optical license
revenue of $1.9 million, or per-share earnings of 8 cents.

The company said it expects to release its full second quarter results after the close of
market on Nov. 18.
