Frankly, I don't think the semis run together...I actually break them up into 4 categories. There's the old guard like intc and AMD and NSM and then there is the newer guys like Altr and Xlnx and then there is the upstarts like Cree and RFMD and TXCC and finally the equipment makers like AMAT.

Because they are in different aspects of the chip business, I bet there are more days that they do not trade together than days they do. And you have to remember that AMD started its latest runup when intc was in retreat.

I think what jump started this move was the Bank of America upgrade....I think it galvanized what was a growing interest in the stock. Lets face it AMD has a big float for a company losing so much money so it takes a good push to get it going. And generally there has been favorable media coverage re the Athlon and its launch. I think all of these things made it happen. Do you agree or disagree?
