Congratulations on Aunt Nancy's approval, that really was the clincher wasn't it?

Today was my biggest dollar day on the market, ever, and that includes the big 55pt run in April. Gratitude abounds to you and this thread for a sea change in investment thinking.

BTW, I have also made a few changes to my profile, have a look.

Aloha, Mike

I'm a newbie to this thread and would greatly appreciate viewpoints and hope to add some value to the thread as well.

I missed an outstanding run on QCOM and would be curious as to any views on a nice entry point for a first time investor of it.

Thanks in advance for any viewpoints, and a sincere congrads on your great accomplishment.

<<My response was freedom>> Congrats Frank on your accomplishment and executing your goal. Your feedback, along with LindyBill, Jim Willie and many more have certainly given me confidence to hold and keep adding to my position of Q, so much that I now have over 70%. As you know I was toying with the idea to sell and buy JDSU, because of tax reasons in my RRSP. I must be one of the few Canadians holding 100% Q in a retirement fund ( it is in one of my wife's accounts ). I had the similar feeling as you with such a large gain in one day as almost a one year salary.- CDN :-) Anyway, tomorrow is another day and I look forward to reading your positive posts.

Congratulations Uncle FranQ!

I am very happy to see that you have been justly rewarded! Both you and LindyBill (and Mike, tekboy, and many others) deserve a reward such as this for running such a fantastic Board. Because of you and the others, I have just had the largest single day gain of my life!

Also, Welcome back to the world of full time investors. I am glad Aunt Nancy approves. I look forward to even more of your great posts in the future.

What a fantastic day for Q, JDSU, and SFE!

Frank, good luck in your new profession. Based on your thread comments over the past 6 months, I have no doubt that you will be successful beyond your wildest dreams. Maybe starting off on a day like today is a good omen for all of us.

the Gods of the Street gifted me with a one day return larger than a year's gross income.

And if you hold out for long-term capital gains treatment, you'll keep a LOT higher percentage of it than if you had the same amount of earned income.

Congratulations, Frank! There's nothing I like more than hearing about peoples' options increasing and goals being attained.

Frank, Today was an amazing day in the stock market for me, and my thought was - it doesn't get any better than this. But then I log into the G&K thread and read your news and I am thrilled. Congratulation to you, sir! My very best wishes to you on your new lifestyle.

Way to go Frank

With your love of Gorillas, you are truly a monkey's uncle.

BTW, you did not comment on my retort on the Q thread about the doctor bill from Stan and me split 4:1

Your jealously still working because my wife would make me feel guilty retiring at 41 even though today I also earned a year's salary and then some nephew, (.com)

Unqle Franq: Congratulations, both for your investment success and your new vocation. Thanks to you and the generosity of the thread, my investment success has accelerated over the past 6 months since I discovered G+K,beyond my most optimistic expectations.

With the link you posted for Watch and Wait today, I was finally able to look at the list. I would like to bring your attention to the top listing, first alphabetically and first in returns, ARMHY.
Up 533%!

With your encouragement, and with great trepidation, I proposed this company as my first W+W prospect. I hope that some others have researched this British chip design/IPR powerhouse.

On a day when Dr. Jacobs outlined the Q's future as, post infrastructure, post handset manufacture, an IPR giant, I would again encourage others to take a look at ARM Ltd. ARM is partners with QCOM, INTC, TXN and all the major Euro/Japan/Asian chip manufacturers.

Excellent management, great partnerships and the objective, as stated by CEO Robin Saxby, to "have ARM chips in everything".

Good luck to you in your new career. You deserve your success.

Regards,
James

Hello Once More Unq,

A belated congratulations on your new profession. I completely over looked your post. Looks like today's results helped you move up the timetable a bit from when we talked. I think being able to devote 100% to something that you like and are obviously very good at is the culmination of a lot of hard work and DD. I think we are all in agreement that it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and the freedom is well deserved. There are also a lot of us who are quite envious also (you sorry @#&%!+&#)<ggg>

Ther is only one problem as I see it. You have taught a good many of us the proper G&K philosophy. NOW you are going to have to teach us all how to to be full time online investors so we can all quit and join you!!!!!. So Unq, the journey ain't over yet.

On this note I shall retire or my liege Sir Dancelot will have me polishing his armor all night for laying it on so thick on you.

Uncle Frank, that one day's income is an incredible statistic...an inspiration. I am absolutely certain it will not be your last, and that many others here will have similar results soon, and on into the future, and not just with the Q. A lot of us are going to be living in the manual's flap cover. I'm also printing your post to send to my children. They sometimes think their dad is a bit over the top....nice to have a real-time example for them.

While you're thanking us, we are on bended knee to you and Lindy and Merlin. Besides, who needs to work days when you can have so much fun in the evenings. Just ask Lindy.

Uncle Frank:

Thanks to George Gilder and this thread, activity on November 3 rewarded me with an unbelievable single day, single month, single year, single decade gain in my portfolio. If I told you the exact sum, you wouldn't believe it. Nor do I. And yet there it is. It amounts to MORE than two years of my gross annualized salary and I am comparing the very best two years in a very long and very successful career.

And so I welcome you to the growing numbers of (retired?) full time investors who have learned after many years of wandering in the confusing world of the Merrill Lynch's Morgan Stanley's, Smith Barney's, et. al. and ad nauseum. But as you have probably already learned, we still work long hours and engage in arduous research in plying our new craft. And, if you are like me, every investment of every additional dollar requires a certain expenditure of mental and emotional agony even after we have mastered the heart of The Gorilla Game. In other words, investing is never easy. It is, however, a lot easier what with the Internet search engines and the minds, like yours, so willing to share.

Thanks.

I once had a whole year salary increase on one day from DELL, not sure if I got that Tues from Q or not, possibly.
How exciting to be a full time investor....of course that is my goal, sooner rather than later....will you actively trade, then? Just use the gorillas?
Maybe you should start a new thread: Uncle Frank's full time investor site!!!

Uncle Frank,

WOW! Congratulations on your decision for time freedom. It is great to be able to retire from the corporate world to build your personal dreams.

Frank, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that you will be with us during the day.

Thank you for being the kind of person that you are, giving back and changing lives along the way. There are so many wonderful SI people posting and willing to help those of us less fortunate in street knowledge (speaking for myself). I only hope they realize how much we love, admire and appreciate them.

Without V and your insights I would still be playing stocks and losing.

Thank you for giving back!!! May God bless you real good and I hope that all of your dreams come true.

I look forward to Monday. We should have another fantastic day after a weekend full of QCOM/REAL GOOD NEWS. YES! Yes!

You are appreciated!

>>Please note that the thread header has been updated and now provides useable links to the tracking portfolios.<<

Frank,

Now that the public portfolios are working again, and since we are approaching a new year, do you think we should revise the portfoio holdings. Perhaps kick some of those princes out, perhaps eliminate the godzillas, get rid of T, etc. IMHO we could revise it to better reflect the stocks we discussed here. It could also better aid new people in learning our focus.
