Ron, My Automatic transmission has been 'hanging' in 1st gear lately. By this I mean the engine revs much too high before it shifts into 2nd. No problems with the other gears. It happens when the car is cold (first few miles), and then it lightens up, and begins shifting to 2nd at a lower rpm. If I hit the accelerator hard (when cold) it nearly redlines.

I checked the fluid level, and it seems fine, though it does look a little too full. Would a fluid replacement help, or is it something more serious? Car is a 86 M-B 300E w/ 104k miles.

Regards,
TW
