victor... I saw that rumor at the Zoo and assumed it was coming from the same guys who think that the stock will go to 7 per share at which time Jimmy Dean will buy out CPQ to make pork sausage. What is the story on MC and his shares? Seemed that the stock had to be 34 by Spring 2000, or else. Trouble is, I can't remember what the "or else" part is. El

Compaq computers and Hewlett Packard both rose today as Smith Barney analyst Richard Gardner
made positive/favorable remarks on the 2 companies.

Specifically, he stated that the exit of No. 5 IBM and No. 7 NEC from the retail market frees up $3
BILLION in sales for both companies to go after.

Although good news, he indicated that it will be 1Q99 before either company will see the positive
impact of this development
