Apparently, she said, in a very dry tone. Speaking of guy things, tonight I took Ben to orientation for crew, they start land-training next week, move on to on-the-water training in late February, and then regattas. The parents meeting consisted of an hour and a half explanation of the fund-raising process ~ it costs over $800 per student because it's a "club" sport, not a school sport. Not sure exactly what the kids talked about when they met with the coach, but when I took Ben to the grocery store, he mentioned how he might like to try chicken, as it had less fat than beef. Be still, my heart!

After 14 1/2 years of refusing to eat any meat but beef, the child has consented to taste a bird. This is a child who thinks that the four food groups are pepperoni pizza, beef, potatoes, and milk. Not wishing to push my luck, but thinking it might be a good time to strike while the iron was hot, I suggested that he might like to try salad, too. He consented. Frabjous day! He picked out some caesar salad mix, and caesar salad dressing, and actually ate a bowl full with his supper.

Now, I actually feel somewhat cheerful about having to spend every foreseeable weekend fundraising.
