Chairman Michael Dell,speaking publicly for the first time about his company's reasons for locating in Middle Tennessee, said the desire to cheaply distribute products drove the decision. "Dell spends more money on logistics, and moving materials around, than in the manufacturing of its products," Dell said. Middle Tennessee's central location can help solve this, he added, saying: "We've done the math and we believe this makes a lot of sense."
