You buy a charging program like Metastock from Equis. Look at equis.com . You need a source of historical data. Then you pick a stock. I use Inverstor's Business Daily for ideas.

You create a stock chart in Metastock, and download the data from Reuters over the internet. Metastock can now show you many different views of this data. Using the drawing tools provided you draw your own trendlines.

Exporting to a graphics file is simply a mater of clicking on the File|Save As menu. (Allthough I go to the extra stop of converting the file to a compressed GIF to save bandwidth.)

"Least I know to hold on to a good stock."

That's more important than knowing how to export a file. :-)
