Local kids practice on the Occoquan, the river between Fairfax and Prince William County. There is a park, Sandy Run Regional Park, that's almost to Lorton. The Northern Virginia Park Authority has a couple of boathouses there, and George Mason University and the Fairfax high school teams keep their boats there. It's great because it's not so busy nor fast as the Potomac. Alexandria schools use the Potomac, and so do the DC schools. Not sure about Arlington, assume it's the Potomac. I love rowing on the Potomac, all the buildings on either side. But the Occoquan is more country.

Yes, the Memorial Bridge is still a draw bridge. Much fun for commuters.
