It is the uncertainty in the very near future which held back the stock, and the unpredictable FOF caused the uncertainty, not the trial itself. The trial started on May of 1998, and it did not hold back the stock since then, quite on the contrary, Microsoft had a huge run up after the trial started . On May of 1999, when Microsft hit $95, Microsoft over run itself , and the stock started to hold back. The price was justified since last earning release of Oct 19. Since then , the held back of the stock price was caused by the uncertainty of the VERY near future, which is the unpredictable FOF.
After the release of FOF, Microsoft will start to move upward. Why ?
If the FOF is pre Microsoft, the stock will move huge, otherwise it will just repeat the history of 1998 since the trial started on May 1998. Microsft will file an appeal if the FOF is negative, and the result will be 2 years away, no uncertainty on the horizon in the very near future, and Microsoft's fundamental will continue to improve in the next two years, so , business as usual. Two years down the road when the final result of appeal will be decided, the whole software industry will be changed at that time, and the new Republican president will most likely drop off this stupid case. As you know Republican are pro business. Who will get hurt the most if business all go down ? You and me, the people !!!!So, my vote is to Bush in year 2k. I advise you all do the same thing as Microsoft's investors , their families, relatives and friends !!!!Only a growing economy , successful companies will benefit the people the most. Regulation of the market by the government is not the solution. We saw a lot of activities of regulation from the government recently either through mouth talking , (AG regulate the stock market by talking down / UP the market), the government file suit against various companies ...etc. Did all these benefit the people ----> the consumers ? I do not think so !!! Again, I see the dangerous sign of overly expanded political power on the horizon !!!
