QCOM--What happened?

So much for EMT-effecient market theory. Qcom is the same company is was 2 weeks ago, but its stock is 60 points higher. Why? It can't be the earnings report, which if the truth be told , on a pro forma basis looks disappointing. A progression of .86, .91 to guided .95 is not a gorilla progression, or even a high PE progression. I don't think it was the conference call, because most investors don't, won't and can't listen to the call. Can it really be the the announcement of the stock split, an event we all know has no economic consequence, is what finally turned the world on to the Q? I am afraid so. The story is great, the story is wonderful, but without the split we never would have had all the hoopla and extended reporting on CNBC. Perhaps we should add splits to the list of defining events.
