Greg's reply: You are so correct, news rules, in my book. News, like we just got, proves time and time again the TA is just a one of the tools that should be used but not abused. As one who's been talking about TA recently I'd like to say that I agree with Greg. The fundamentals of this company are far more important than TA. I own JDSU because of the great demand for their products; because of their earnings growth; because of their potential. I just use TA to tell me when to buy and when to sell (eventually.) Channel analysis also tells me what drops not to worry about. TA of course cannot predict news. We examine historical charts to get some idea of what the mass of people in the market are thinking about the future of the company. Really big news can cause a stock to leave its channel. Sometimes it starts a new channel. If you want to predict the future you need vision.
