Mstonek, COVD being a larger player has less of an upside impact from a yahoo I would guess. NPNT has gotten less attention over time (imo). Nice move today. Brian

NorthPoint Communications Launches E-Business Initiative For Enhanced Service to Retail Partners

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- NorthPoint Communications (NASDAQ:NPNT)today announced an eBusiness initiative, 'NorthPoint eConnect,' to enhance order pre-qualification, order entry and customer care processes with its ISP and other network service provider partners. NorthPoint has selected Vitria Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:VITR), a leading provider of eBusiness infrastructure software, to electronically bond to its retail Internet and other network service provider partners. With NorthPoint eConnect, NorthPoint expects to speed service delivery for its DSL-based
broadband service. NorthPoint will begin automation trials with three of its partners -- Flashcom, Global Crossing and ICG Communications, Inc. -- this month. NorthPoint believes that its partners will benefit from decreased time intervals for completing service delivery, allowing them to increase productivity and focus on selling additional subscriber lines. Since partners will no longer have to re-key orders and status information in different systems, there is less risk for input errors and a faster order cycle.
NorthPoint plans to implement the service with its partners in first quarter 2000."ICG is eager to work with NorthPoint to integrate our systems and speed the time of service delivery," said John Kane, president and chief operating officer, ICG Communications, Inc. "NorthPoint eConnect will allow ICG to capitalize on the demand for broadband solutions and focus less on back-office systems."
Using NorthPoint's existing partner extranet as a foundation, the company will utilize Vitria BusinessWare to electronically bond with its partners. In addition, NorthPoint is working proactively with other CLECs, ISPs and industry groups to drive the development of standard interfaces for electronic bonding.

NorthPoint and Vitria have worked diligently with Flashcom to provide a practical and straightforward solution for solving the complex problem of flow-through provisioning.
