Jeff,

The arbs have already started shorting this stock. For these kinds of deals, you buy OCLI, and short JDSU. Since many people don't know this, they are thinking: "Hey its a buying op, let's dive in!"

Frankly......it may be a buying op soon, but not now. I think the stock will be going red fairly soon based on arb action.

This may the best thing that's happened to those people that sold CC against their stock in the 150's, 160's. 170's, and 180's. You now have your best chance to buy your calls back, or cover then with cheaper stock.

Steve

re: Not much room for an arbitrage so far.

Good. That probably means everyone expects this merger to go through without a hitch.

What does this merger mean for the future of JDS Uniphase and for the stock in the next quarter?

Analysts will have questions about how well the merger is managed, and about the accounting. The quarterly reports will become harder to figure out. Some will question if they paid too much for OCLI.

This company has a lot on it's plate. Is management up to handling mergers and explosive growth?
