JDSU getting major short action on arbitrage of JDSU vs. OCLI. . . doubt we'll see today's high for a while. . . .this is good news though. . . While I have been unable to find any other companies they have joint-ventures with. . . I have discovered that they have an enormous appetite for buying up the industry. The company is a derivative of Phillips Group. . . from the opto-electric division. . . one of JDSU's first acquisitions was one of the most high-tech divisions of IBM. . . this is hardly a start-up company. . . after that it was one acquisition after another. .. I think I stopped counting at 15. Then I read an article where the head of JDSU states his aggressive stance. . . and claims that he is aggressively pursuing the best of the best. The only competition to JDSU at this time is supposedly SDLI and ETEK. . . however, they are not nearly as aggressive. Unclear whether JDSU has any interest in SDLI or ETEK. Anal-yst reports have been way off. One claimed that JDSU was bound to buy a certain packaging firm for their fibre-optics products. . . I guess he didn't read the annual report where it states clearly that they already bought a fibre-optics packaging firm. Standing back and trying to get the bigger picture on this. . . I would keep our eyes on two of our favorites. . . .not even being partial. . .I looked at perhaps 100 stocks that might be of interest. . .but the two names which keep coming back are ANTC and ADAP. . . whose products are setting the industry on its ears. Think of JDSU as a Lucent of the new millenium and you will have a good image of what we are dealing with. . . . I believe JDSU will be not just "a" leader but "the" leader. And going out on a limb. . . this time with hardly any leaves to hide behind. . . .I would go as far as saying that JDSU is a screaming buy, once the shorts have their way. . . a 20 percent or more discount would start looking really attractive. We should keep a careful eye on this situation. . .the short positions taken at and before open were obvious. . . their covering was also obvious. . .and now they have taken new positions. . . .expect this to continue most of the day with JDSU maybe even ending lower on the day. . . and OCLI giving back much of its wild gains. . . I realize the valuation is ridiculous at this point. But it took guts to buy Lucent or Microsoft or Intel when they were obviously overvalued. . . but after a number of years. . . they "grew into" their valuations. . . this is how I see JDSU. I really went into this expecting to find more fluff than substance. . . but was shocked to see rock solid substance. . .the deeper I looked, the better it was. . . very frustrated that we missed the first leg of this terrific stock. . . .original 'once over' was back when they were hyped by the brokerage houses. . . made them look scammy. . . did them a grave disservice. Some other related stocks that look interesting, which came up during this study include one we have not mentioned in a while. . .CATT. . .also ETEK, SDLI, SAWS, MRVC, RBAK, QLGC and RFMD. Anyone that can shed some light on the value and importance of any of these, please enlighten us. Rande Is
