Cisco is one of my favorite Gorillas. It is already mature, but still growing with its tornado. I have been looking for a re-entry point (a la tekboy's operation Catfish), and have been surprised by a lack of run up going into next Tuesday's earnings report. There was a rumor a few weeks ago that csco would miss profits, which a Cisco spokesman quickly dispelled. BUT, any slowdown in top line growth or gross margins could cause a temporary dive. The following article seems to address that possibility for me:

news.cnet.com

What could be better than buying Cisco at 50 for a Gorilla gamer? I think we should keep our eyes on this mighty enabling Gorilla.

Unc! 5:30 a.m. in California means you're up at 2:30 a.m. for a market that opens at 9:30 a.m. Maybe the day job was easier? <g>

Frank,
What will you have to do each day? With gorillas in your camp, the best course is LTBH.

GBLX:
Global Crossing is creating the world's first independent, global fiber optic network designed to provide telecommunications carriers and Internet service providers with a seamless network connecting more than 150 of the top cities for telecommunications traffic worldwide.

Last 6 quarters Revenues:
101,256 - 117,693 - 205,150 - 178,183 - 190,278 (Thousands of U.S. Dollars)
looks like a beginning Tornado to me!

Some questions:
Chasm crossed already? Sure
Competition : ? (none)
switching costs : probably high
proprietary technical standard : probably no

Are we witnessing the rising of a new kingdom?

Comments welcome

MR

Managing my portfolio is now my full time job, and my alarm will stay set at 5:30AM so I can get up an hour before the market opens, log on, and look for ways to make a buck

Uncle, you are the envy of many here. We are experiencing a truly "golden era" as new companies (and wealth) are created from nothing by inspired and devoted visionaries like Irwin Jacobs. Combining time with your investing prowess and dedication will be a most profitable venture indeed.

Somehow I think we may all benefit from you new vocation<g>. If I didn't love my job so much I would join you on your voyage. Here's wishing you success on your journey! May the wind always be at your back. Rory
