Robert,

It depends on the criteria. If the main concern of a society is money and greed then I agree that we are in a golden age. If the main concern is other than money and greed, like morality/family values then its far from a golden age and actually heading in a negative direction and far from the GOLDEN AGE.

My criteria is more towards morality and family values so I have nothing to toast about.

Robert, I remember growing up in a poor neighborhood and my parents were in the laundry biz/restaurant biz. Tough times compared to now but I was a happy kid and were most of my friends. I had nothing to regret. Having kids and being around quite a few kids in recent years, I seldom saw the happiness that I witnessed as a kid and all these kids were in the upper middle class. Suicides seldom occured when I was young, but now it is much less common. Is that a sign of growing happiness. Is that what we have to toast about.

Im making money right now, but I dont feel I have anything important to toast about. HIGH LEVELS of SUICIDES, HIGH LEVELS of VIOLENT CRIMES, ETC. Is that what we should toast.

Family members or friends of those killed in SEATTLE and HAWAII - do they have anything to toast about, unless money is more important than life.

This is no attack on you, but is an attack on our society.

Im an AMERICAN, and seeing how a society can be so advanced and wealthy but so poor in other areas, disturbs me.
