Cobalt Networks boost IPO price range to $20-$22

WASHINGTON, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Cobalt Networks Inc. said on Thursday it raised the estimated price range of its initial public offering to $20-$22 per share from $14-$16 per share, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The company, which makes and sells server appliances that are designed to run applications over a computer network or the Internet, will now likely generate net proceeds of $96.6 million from the IPO to be used for boosting working capital, funding operating losses and paying for capital spending.

Cobalt Networks, based in Mountain View, Calif., still plans to offer 5 million shares in the IPO, according to the amended prospectus filed with the SEC.

The company plans to trade its shares on Nasdaq under the symbol ``COBT.'
