David has more than 10 years sales and marketing experience in client/server applications and vertical industry business solutions. Before joining Oracle in May of 1996, Shirk was Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Macola Software, a manufacturer of software solutions for small to midsize distributors and manufacturers. Prior to his 4 year tenure at Macola Software, he was Marketing Manager for Novell, Inc. where he led joint development and marketing projects as part of the NetWare Systems Division. At Novell, Shirk was responsible for product and programs management for the developer products division.
