Tom:
Call Kingston 714 445 3436 and ask for Stuart Atkins.
He should be able to provide prices for engineering samples.
They told me Monday that they may be selling retail tomorrow.

They are no where near Dell's
Dell_______________Kingston__________IBM__________Compaq
128MB PC800 $335_____$1,600___________N/A__________$910*
64MB PC800 $148______$585_____________N/A__________$468*
128MB PC700 $257_____$1,280/PC600____$815/PC600____$812*
64MB PC700 $160______$640/PC600______$440/PC600____$409*

*Reseller cost add 10-20% markup

I think RDRAM pricing is what Dell was alluding to analysts about lower margins in this quarter.
They will not be able ot sell large quantites unless RDRAM costs come down or they accept lower profit margins.

Re: thoughts on this pricing in the October Dell Catalog?

I can't find pricing for Rambus on their web site. What do they charge if you've already bought your rambus computer, and 3 months later you want to add memory?

My point is, those prices, which are quite good (about half IBM's although IBM lists the parts on their web site and will actually sell you parts), may be subsidized by the purchase of the PC. They may be "upgrade" prices rather than market prices.

But maybe not, is there a link you can point us to?

Regards,

Dan
