McEnroe? Come on, really? Never would have guessed. If we do have that "RIG" party you'll have to give me a match at tennis. If I can't beat you in the investment arena I at least want a shot on the court. I play about 2-3 times a week so start practicing...

Slider - PXD and Apples and Oranges....

I have been following PXD since before the Mesa merger. I almost bought in the summer of '97 after the merger, but I got antsy. I watched them leverage themselves out the ying yang over the Canadian Chauvco deal as prices entered that infamous decline. As I recall they have had quite a few garage sales as a result. Your comment "a pure value play; was what ? - $24 last fall" I think fails to discount the excess baggage shed to please the banks. I bought at $10, after it had retraced from $13. Do you know what fraction of assets were shed? All other things being equal, I would not expect it to return to the $44 it enjoyed in the happy hunting time of September '97. Maybe $30. But that is still 3X above my entry. Nothing wrong with that.
