Either this co will do very well or flame out. I don't think the latter will happen.

Alright, who's bugging Mike Rosen all the time? -

>
>ACTV Making Viewer's Choice Pay-Per-View Channel Interactive
>
>ACTV, the interactive TV software developer in New York, has
>made a national deal with pay-per-view channel, Viewer's Choice,
>to provide interactive TV programming/functionality for special
>live events. ACTV, of course, (currently only available in the
>Dallas Ft. Worth area), sends a production studio van on location
>with cameras set up at different angles. During the event, home
>viewers are able to select their own angles at will via their
>remote control and get more information relevant to the program.
>More information such as statistics, instant replays, etc., for games
>of sport or lyrics, information on artists, etc., will also be available
>
>for live musical events. Liberty Digital, an investor (12-25%) in
>ACTV and content provider, is also part of that deal. Beginning
>January 1st, viewers who have digital cable service from their cable
>operator or satellite provider, a digital set-top box from General
>Instrument (DCT-2000 - eventually, the DCT-5000+) or
>Scientific-Atlanta (Explorer 2000) will receive and download to the
>box software encrypted and embedded within the Viewer's Choice
>broadcast NTSC signal. Note: ACTV fans/investors often call
>ITVT or write to talk, ask questions, or brag about the capabilities
>of the company. Mike Rosen, a spokesperson for ACTV, says:
>"This happens to us to, believe me. Our investors are very passionate."
>
>The companies were unwilling to detail the specifics of the financial
>arrangements at this time.

The source of this post and the last I made is Tracy Swedlow's ITV newsletter.

Hey Art, Mike, and all

Here's the deal:

Let's take AOL as a somewhat imperfect analogy. Imagine AOL in 1992, before the internet took off. Who could have figured that the net would be what it is today? Even Rupert Murdoch passed on AOL as an investment because Bill Gates said AOL "had no business plan". Wrong. Paul Allen sold out of AOL early on and lost out on several $Billions.

Because interactive TV is still an unproven concept for most people, only the smart or lucky (I'm not sure which I am) have gotten in on the ground floor like most on this thread. Therefore, THIS IS STILL A TRADING STOCK FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. Expect it to be volatile. Expect this to continue until perceptions change. When? When will that be? Who knows?

Personally, I'm not smart enough to trade this stock. At some point it will take off to never revisit these levels. If you are nimble enough, there is money to be made in trading at this stage.

I view my investment in ACTV very confidently on a long term basis. Like Mark Twain said (apologies to Ed who will remember this quote): "He sat there with the calm confidence of a Christian holding Four Aces". I love that quote.
