Of course, the statistics about 50% of households with less than $ 1000 in financial assets fails to look at the debt side of the balance sheet. The thing that most have failed to consider is the debt. There are plenty of people with no meaningful savings who have expensive entertainment centers on leases, or expensive cars on leases, or expensive houses with no equity.
