Dear Bill: I would like to add a little to your well thought out (as ususual) post. I am 56 years old. Been investing since I was 23 so thats about 33 years. I have played all the games over my life and lost and made money on each. BUT, I have learned one thing which ALWAYS works successfully. For the lions share of your money find a few good companies, learn all you can about them, stay abreast of their current developments and just keep buying the stock on any dips. NEVER SELL. haha. True, I hate to sell a good stock because its not that easy to find great companies. The point is every company no matter how good it is has its bad moments either actual or perceived (as I believe this PW report is) but in the long haul they persevere. Now, I realize this is BORING investing so I do keep a little kitty for long shots, current hot stocks etc. But not so much to make money as lose as often as win, but to enjoy the game.
Hope I havent bored anyone but I know there are a lot of younger people investing and if they are smart they will learn from OTHERS mistakes NOT their own. JDN

Bill, Briefing must agree with you; they added EMC to their CORE List: EMC Corp. (EMC) 71: Leading data storage equipment maker just keeps posting one record quarter after another... Management expects the shifting to the Internet of most businesses, the migration of clients to higher speed fibre channel storage, growth in its software business, international expansion and an expanded presence in the middle-market storage sector to keep the company on the fast-track... We see no reason to doubt them... This is a very well run company with over gobs of cash, little to no debt and a dominant market share in a fast-growing business... Add to these goodies, impressive momentum in the stock (long-term).
