James I was in this situation with request I not be kept alive on machines. after 7 weeks coma, tube fed, dialysis, and breathing by machine with tracheotomy. They pulled the machines and said would die in 3 days at most. Funeral arranged and when machines stopped caame out of coma and got better. That was 14 1/2 years ago so it was definitely best to pull the plug and let God handle it.

<<Personally, if I were in those circumstances, and my body systems were starting to fail, I would be greatful to the doctor if he let me go.
We're just passin through anyway.>>

Yes, you're right, our time on earth is fleeting. From this I wonder if it is not better, at times, to struggle against death, to fight the darkness with every ounce of our being? Of the doctor, this also bothers me, is not their function to prolong life? If we allow them to begin to "help" people die, where could it end? Is simply the essence of this cavalier attitude toward human life showing a greater problem? Or are we being most kind to allow the quicker passing of those in the greatest pain?
