Here's something interesting: a kind lurker tells me that Chalem wasn't a US citizen. Apparently you'd never guess: his English was perfect, and he spoke it with a Brooklyn accent. My source doesn't know what his nationality was; though the "Alain" suggests some sort of link with France or the French language.

His mother lives in New Jersey; his father lives in Canada...

He seems to have lived quite grandly indeed. Apart from the Colts Neck estate and (we imagine) property in Florida, he also had a yacht (not of this in his own name, of course). Interestingly, he didn't have a driver's license: Kimberly or one of his gofers drove him everywhere.

He's said to have been extremely charming and personable; very good with people.

More on the yacht:

The yacht was docked at the Hyatt Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale until last September when Al bought a condo next door to the hotel. He moved the yacht there.

It was a 66 foot hattaras named "Miss Boombastic" complete with a
nude women etched in the shower glass. Kimberly wanted him to name it "Miss Kimberly" and was disappointed when he didn't.

lolololololololissimo!!!

[Double zero, too!]
